Points of Remixture
I am trying something different for this album. A few months ago, I signed up at ccMixter, a “community music remixing site featuring remixes and samples licensed under Creative Commons licenses.” (see this page for an in-depth explanation). When I released my newest Jamendo album, Points of Departure, I decided that I would make the original tracks available for remixing.
When I say original tracks, I mean the actual individual instrumental tracks I recorded — bass, guitar, keys, and percussion. These can be mixed down to render any of the final tracks on the albums. However, I hope they will be useful to remix artists. I have always offered my albums under Creative Commons licenses, but for this album, it will be very easy to build something new based on my works.
Also, over the next few weeks, I’m going to go through the songs, one by one, and tell the background stories — all the things that went into each tune. I’ll give the chord structures, instrument variations, and techniques I used to get each track to its final form.
However, for right now, let me point you to my . . . well, shall we say, to my newest points of departure:
- My ccMixter artist page.
- Individual tracks I’ve posted already for “Casualty of the Battle of the Bands” (Song #6 on Points of Departure): bass, guitar, percussion, and two synth tracks (0H4, 2J8).
